Healthcare for Life Protocol: Puppy
 
 
 
 
 
EXAMS:
 Complete Physical Exam monthly until 4-5 months of age. Then a complete physical exam every 6 months. Includes new puppy behavior counseling, nutritional analysis, and risk assessment for congenital and inherited diseases. 
 
VACCINATIONS:
  • Canine Distemper, Canine Infectious Hepatitis, Parvo virus, and Parainfluenza 3-4 times at monthly intervals until 16 weeks old.Vaccination for Leptospirosis two times beginning at 10 weeks.
  • Vaccinations for Lyme Disease if there is a risk of exposure. (2 vaccines starting at 10 weeks)
  • Rabies vaccine as required by state law anytime after 12 weeks
  • Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination given anytime after 2 weeks for those at risk.
 

 

PARASITE CONTROL
  • Strategic deworming: every 2 weeks from 2 weeks old through 12 weeks old and then monthly through adulthood.  Multiple types of dewormers are used to eliminate multiple parasites. (Recommended by the Centers for Disease Control) 
  • Heartworm preventative monthly all year. (Heartgard Plus or Iverhart)
  • Veterinary recommended flea and tick control monthly all year (Frontline, Advantage, K9 Advantix or Revolution).
 
SURGERY:
  • Spay or neuter at 4-6 months of age with pre-anesthetic bloodwork.
  • Microchip application.
 
 NUTRITION
A premium food formulated for your specific size/breed of puppy until 12 -24 months of age. We recommend Eukanuba brand puppy foods.
